Artist's Comments

A shadow man and his shadow. Thanks to Zulfikar of stock.xchng for taking maybe the best picture ever of a guy reflected in a clock, which I've used like fifty times.

This is for adagio-sostenuto, the motormouth commenter who's been so good to me lately. I know he likes my photomerges so I hope he appreciates this. I'd fiddled with it off and on for months before I finally started fooling around with duplicate layers and it payed off. The subjects are almost unrecognizable so I put it in Abstract.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the full title should be "shadows and light", but there wasn't enough room for both that and the dedication in the title.

Well, I just commented on this on RR, and because I'm too lazy to go back there and find what I said, I'll write something new here...I've been sick, stopped by here, and holy shit: A piece dedicated to me! Well, aside from the fact that "motormouth" will probably make everyone who knows me go "yesssss!", I'm flattered that you dedicated this to me. As I said on RR, you have a way with sweeping hues and silken textures, and you did it again here. You get some opulent textures in these works. This looks like someone walking into the next dimension as seen through a peep-hole; and, given my present state, I'd say it's a good snapshot of how I feel. Thank you for the dedication, and one of these days I'll dedicate something back...I wish I could 'not' like something of yours—I'm working on it—but I don't comment on a lot of artists & the ones I comment on I really like. Sorry. You're stuck. I like this, I really do.

(Btw—this is a boring fact—"adagio sostenuto" is from a Beethoven sonata, which I say in deference to your flute shots & music program-covers and in deference to your mom who I presume is a musician. Not that that makes your night, but hell...when you're running 102 fahrenheit, you'll say anything...thanks again, Y.)

The fact that you'll go and leave one comment for each place I post adds weight to my theory that you are basically a large collection of words in a man suit. I'm both flattered and amazed that someone would think my images deserved such a wall of text, let alone a positive and well-thought-out wall of text, and as I said over on Renderosity you've been one hell of an inspiration. I'd never have done this, "found" or "nobody knows" as soon as I did them, or perhaps not at all, if I didn't know there was someone who found me interesting waiting for more stuff. Being "stuck" with you has been enjoyable so far :)

As for your name, it is a neat reference now that I know where it comes from, and yeah, Mom plays oboe in the Portland Symphony Orchestra and also teaches oboe in a couple of music schools. Dad sits at home in front of his computer, eating Mini Wheats out of the bag.

Cheers, thanks, and get well!

my pleasure, artist! I've got two names to tell everyone in my life: motormouth and large collection of words in a man suit...This will get applause, trust me. My pleasure...

And the Portland SO! Impressive. You have good genes. I'll be back when I'm more well (gotta lotta catching up to do in your 2 galleries). And btw, I saw the first image, "sea buildings"—you're gonna kill me, but, yeah it was a first effort and yeah it was kitschy, but (save me!) it showed a real imagination. I mean that even though I just dropped 40 degrees in your estimation. An undeveloped imagination, yes, but imagination. If I saw it the day you posted it, I'd think: She's got promise. Ok, I'll go. Be back later this week...

am not very gud with detailed comments...but i really love this work...the blur..the lightin n the overall feel of mystery is just awesome...:)
:iconyhigte:
Saying that you like the blur, lighting and feel of mystery is all the detail that's needed in a comment -- just say what you like and/or what you don't like and it's helpful. Thank you so much.

Outstanding work! It's dreamy scary and feverishly insane - I keep thinking of Hitchcock-movies looking at it!
